No metatruth

The George Harrison song on the Beatles album "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"; the song named "Within You Without You": it's very condescending toward people who don't "know" the truth — this "truth" being based on eastern philosophy and eastern religion.

But everybody knows the truth: truth is merely the lived moment-to-moment conscious experience, the fact of living, the feeling of being. As Rene Descartes said, "I think, therefore I am".

Building additional mental structures trying to explain it; those are just additional experiential moments.

Certainly good philosophy, and especially science; these provide truth about reality. (But revealed religions and revealed spiritual paths are untrustworthy sources of knowledge and truth.)

People are susceptible to the many kinds of cognitive biases; the errors the mind makes. Recognizing these in operation and correcting for them improves the discernment of truth.
